Subject: #1023: This is what I get for not fishing the Club T

So I went to Lay instead with my uncle. Put in at Beeswax and ran to the steam plant. Warmest water there was 45. They were running water in from Loga Martin, so we ran all the way up, I could see the dam. By the way, its a long way if ya never tried it. Farther it seems when it rains and is cold. So anyhow, left up there to go to another spot, and when I slowed down, my overheat alarm goes off. Im thinking, how do you overheat a motor when the water temp is 37? So we fish a while, we are still prolly 15 miles or so from Beeswax, and I'm worried about my motor. So we start heading back, ran about 5 miles and it locks up......Dead......So we start fishing our way back, and finally get a pull from a guy fishing a club T, he ain't had a bite either. He drops us off about a mile from Beeswax and we fished to the launch still no bite. When we get back in, and start looking around, it looks like I burned up the lower unit, I'll know more when I pull it off tomorrow, but its locked up, and there wasn;t a drop of oil left in it. I think it must have froze during the cold spell. We were there when the club T "weighed in", 10 boats......no fish. Parts of Beeswax creek is still frozen, I have never seen anything like it. So we here at DB Custom Lures will be holding a "Help fix my boat sale".....Haha....ya gotta laugh, crying ain't doing no good, maybe next I'll try praying!!!!!!!
I didn't fish our Club T but it only took slightly over 3 pounds to win. I'll post results as soon as I get them but hope your boat is an easy and inexpensive fix.
I have decided that BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand........Gotta get another lower unit, this one is gone. Got a lead on a couple, but it'll be a while before I can get it, so for a while, I will answer by the name of "Bill's Boatless Bank Trash Buddy".
Hope you don't mind me stepping in here, but here is a good place to get a cheaper priced lower unit.I have 2 friends in our bass club that are using these with very good luck. They'll ship it right to you quick and has 3 year warranty.
Here is the web site...www.shopsei.net
Check it out.

So hope y'all don't mind me trying to help a guy out here.
I did find out about SEI and their lower units. When your poor like me, ya hafta search out those bargains! I did find a new Yamaha one about 50 bucks cheaper than theirs, and It is local too! (Atlanta. Plus they are giving me a 3 year warranty,(just like SEI would). Thanks for the info though, come by and post anytime.....help us keep DougH in line. It's a full time job and we hafta take turns! hahaha
Thanks Again,, Darryl
I know how it is to be bank trash !Not a good feeling.
Make Doug let you use his boat, seems it isn't getting much use or offer to take him in "his" boat, that way you both get to fish !
Good luck and hope you get back on the water quick .
Bobby
Man, we have all been there and the next trip out anyone of could be there again. Let me know if you need a boat ride, I'm up for a trip
Sounds like a plan Doug, even though I found one, it's like $945 bucks, so I gotta work a little overtime for a few weeks anyways to get it paid for. The wife and my 25th anniversary is Feb. 2nd, and she wasn't real hip to the idea of me getting her a lower unit for our anniversary, so I guess I better spend the cash I got on some new jewelry for her, my boat jewelry will hafta wait. All I really want to be sure of is that I got it back up and going for the Classic next month at Lay. I took 3 days vacation so I could go spy on the pros. I gotta do something to figure out how to fish down there!
