My recent trip to Lake Baccarac was nothing less than fantastic. My ten biggest fish in three days of fishing were a 13.9, 13.8, 13.1, 10.12, 10.1, 9.5, 9.2, 9.0, and two fish that were 8 1/2 lbs. Countless fish between four and seven pounds were also caught. The lake has the healthiest stock of any lake I have ever fished. The patterns were variable because we caught some big fish on topwater, but the biggest numbers of fish came off of the long, rocky points. I really don't think color or kind of bait mattered because when they were ready to eat, they would literally rip the rod out of your hands. I fished with a guide at Lake Baccarac Lodge named Juan. He is a must. Not only is he an excellent angler because I did let him fish out of our boat - actually insisted that he fish - but he has an intimate knowledge of the lake and the patterns. He could actually look at his watch and tell you when the fish would start biting and on what part of the lake. Lake Baccarac Lodge has the entire package - charter flights, phenomenal lodge with unparalleled service. Thanks for a great trip.
